Bogus Slogan Poster #00096 - Inside View
It can be hard to imagine that Bogus Slogan were pioneers in the Rock n/ Roll cruise industry. The guys have a passion for real big machines like cruise ships or locomotives and certainly planes. Accountants usually squash attempts to buy big ticket toys that are rarely use, but failed with the train and then conceded the jets because of their usefulness.
Regarding boats, the story goes that one day Mason Kimmers, lead singer, was with his family on their way to Marineland on the Palos Verde peninsula when they passed Berth 195 where the S.S. Luriline was leaving with her cruise passengers. For a twelve old, the ship looked like an angel with her wings spread wide open. He cried, “Stop the car!” The entire family yelled back, “Shut up! We’re going to see fish.”
A few years later, Kimmers convinced the band to do a Rock n’ Roll show on board the ship bound for Hawaii Convincing the owners, Matson, took a bit of work. Kimmers, with the help of the Vertex World Crime League, demonstrated the economic value in teen age kids. The execs of Matson who had already decided to end passenger service finally said “What the Hell!”
Bogus Slogan has been rockin’ the world for over half a century. Springing from the Surf, Psychedelic, Garage of the Southern California 60s, the band has released over 3 dozen albums and toured America & the World extensively.
